Manufacturer:

Pharmachem

Description:

Generic tablets are NOT chewable

Nuheart Heartworm tablets for Dogs (Ivermectin) is a monthly tablet used for the prevention of heartworm disease in dogs. It is a generic version of the Heartgard tablets. The active ingredient is exactly the same as in Heartgard and each tablet contains exactly the same amount of ingredient. The tablets are meat flavored and are readily accepted by dogs. For difficult dogs Nuheart tablets can be dissolved in a small amount of water and mixed in the pet's food.

Directions:

Nuheart is given once a month, year round for the prevention of heartworm disease. The usual monthly dose of ivermectin in dogs up to 25 lb is 68mcg – 1 tablet from blue pack, for 26-50 lb is 136mcg – 1 tablet from green pack and for 51-100 lb is 272mcg – 1 tablet from the red pack. Dogs over 100 lb are given a combination of the tablets.

Cautions:

Do not use in puppies under 6 weeks of age

This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it.

Heartworm testing should be performed prior to the start of prevention therapy.

If the animal is off Ivermectin for 6 months or less, start the medication and test after 6 months since microfilaria, which take 6 months to mature, may result in a positive test result.

Side Effects: The side effects of Ivermectin are rare at the recommended dosage. Nuheart has a wide margin of safety for all sizes and breeds of dogs. It is approved for use in puppies as young as 6 weeks, small dogs regardless of weight, pregnant or breeding bitches and stud dogs. Transient diarrhea has been observed in clinical trials after treatment of some dogs that have high circulating microfilariae.

Ingredients:

Ivermectin.
