This medicine is a progestin used to treat certain types of abnormal uterine bleeding or the absence of menstrual bleeding in certain women. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Directions:
This medicine is usually administered as an injection at your doctors office or a clinic. An additional patient information leaflet is available with this medicine. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about this information. This medicine should be used for the shortest possible length of time so you obtain the benefits and minimize the chance of serious side effects from long-term therapy. Cautions:
SIDE EFFECTS that may occur while using this medicine include acne; drowsiness; nausea; pain, redness, and swelling at injection site; trouble sleeping; or weakness. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience breast pain or tenderness, changes in menstrual flow (such as breakthrough bleeding, spotting, missed periods), fever, mental or mood changes (such as anxiety), swelling of your fingers or ankles, vomiting, or unusual weight changes. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience abnormal vaginal bleeding; calf or leg pain or swelling; chest pain; coughing up blood; dark urine; depression; fainting; fast or irregular heartbeat; flushing; lumps in the breast; numbness, weakness, or pain in the arms or legs; shortness of breath; seizures; severe stomach pain; sudden severe headache, dizziness, or vomiting; vision problems (such as partial or complete vision loss, double vision); slurred speech; sudden loss of coordination; or yellowing of the skin or eyes. AN ALLERGIC REACTION to this medicine is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
