Copaxone (Glatiramer)

Prescription requiredOnly Available By Prescription
What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

Description

Copaxone is a prescription medication used to treat multiple sclerosis. It is effective in treating clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting MS, and active secondary progressive MS. This medication works by preventing the immune system from attacking nerves, which slows the progression of the disease and reduces the number of MS relapses. It comes in 20mg and 40mg dosage strengths and is given as an injection either daily or 3 times a week, depending on the dosage. Buy Copaxone from Canpharm and get the best price on it.

Frequently asked questions about Copaxone

What is Copaxone?

Copaxone, also known as Glatiramer Acetate, is a medication specifically designed to manage and reduce the frequency of relapses in individuals diagnosed with Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS). It's a synthetic protein that simulates myelin basic protein, a component of the myelin that insulates nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord. This medication is often available for purchase under the name Copaxone or as a generic version.

What is Copaxone used for?

Copaxone is primarily used in the treatment of Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS). It helps to reduce the frequency of flare-ups and slow the progression of physical disability associated with this condition. It's important to note that while Copaxone can help manage symptoms, it does not cure Multiple Sclerosis. If you're considering to buy Copaxone or its generic version, it's available online at CanPharm.

How does Copaxone work as a treatment for Multiple Sclerosis?

Copaxone works by modulating the immune system, although its exact mechanism of action is not fully understood. It is believed to act by changing the way the immune system functions, thereby reducing its harmful attacks on the myelin sheath, the protective covering of nerve fibers in the central nervous system. This helps to reduce the frequency of Multiple Sclerosis flare-ups. Copaxone, including Copaxone injection and its generic versions, can be found at CanPharm.

Is Copaxone an immunosuppressant?

No, Copaxone is not classified as an immunosuppressant. Instead, it's considered an immunomodulator, meaning it modifies the immune system's response rather than suppressing it. It helps to prevent the immune system from attacking the myelin sheath in the central nervous system, which is a common issue in Multiple Sclerosis.

What are the long-term side effects of Copaxone?

Long-term side effects of Copaxone can vary among individuals. Some people may experience injection site reactions, such as redness, pain, or swelling. Other side effects can include flushing, chest pain, weakness, infection, and lymphadenopathy. It's important to monitor for any changes and discuss them with your doctor or pharmacist. Remember, Copaxone and its generic versions are available online at CanPharm.
