Serophene (Clomiphene)

Serophene is a medication used to address infertility in women. Its primary purpose is to stimulate ovulation, making it beneficial for women who experience difficulties in conceiving due to issues with ovulation. By acting as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM), Serophene blocks the negative feedback of estrogen on the hypothalamus, resulting in increased production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). These hormones play crucial roles in the development and release of eggs from the ovaries.

Directions

Serophene is available in tablet form and is taken orally.

The recommended initial dosage for the selected patient is a low dose of Serophene 50 mg daily, once, for a duration of 5 days.

Start taking clomiphene on or around day 5 of your menstrual cycle.

To ensure consistent intake, take it at the same time every day.

It is not recommended to use Clomiphene for more than 6 cycles.

Cautions

Inform your doctor if you have any allergies to Clomiphene or other medications.

Let your doctor know if you have a history of liver disease, ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, abnormal vaginal bleeding, a pituitary tumor, or thyroid or adrenal disease.

The use of this medication can potentially result in blurry vision.

Interactions

Side Effects

Some common side effects of Serophene include upset stomach, vomiting, flushing, headache, breast pain, abnormal vaginal bleeding. Although uncommon, certain side effects can be serious. Contact your doctor immediately if you encounter blurred /double vision or flashes, stomach pain or swelling, difficulty breathing or weight gain.
