What is a Generic Drug?

A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.

The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (eg. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.

Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.

BROADLINE is a topical solution containing:

  • fipronil
  • (S)-methoprene
  • eprinomectin
It is available in two volumes: 0.3mL to treat cats from 0.8 – 2.4 kg and 0.9mL to treat cats from 2.5 kg – 7.4 kg.

Broadline for cats controls flea bite hypersensitivity by flea control and will kill newly acquired fleas within 8-24 hrs. It prevents flea eggs from hatching and can be used for the treatment and control of tick infestations, biting lice, roundworms, hookworms and tapeworms.

This product can be used on kittens from 8 weeks of age.

When is the right time to treat your cat?

Cats are at risk of getting ticks, fleas and worms throughout the year and possibly re-infected whenever they are exposed to contaminated environments.

Depending on the cat's lifestyle will determine when is the right time to try and protect against these issues.

How long does it protect your cat?

A single treatment will protect your cat against ticks and fleas for up to ONE month. It can also help treat bladderworm, roundworms and tapeworm.

How often does Broadline need to be applied?

It should be at a minimum applied in a monthly interval. However depending on your vet it may be prescribed at specific times depending on your cat's risk to infestation.

What happens if my cat licks the application spot before it has dried?

Normally the worse side effect of Broadline is salivation that should resolve itself within a few hours. If your cat shows any other symptoms call a vet immediately.
