VIZZ (aceclidine ophthalmic solution 1.44%) is a prescription eye drop developed to relieve the effects of presbyopia, a common age-related condition that makes near vision more difficult. With just one daily application, VIZZ starts working in about 30 minutes and may enhance your ability to see up close for up to 10 hours. The solution works by gently reducing pupil size through its active ingredient, aceclidine, which increases depth of focus and provides sharper near vision without significantly affecting distance vision. Clinical studies, including the CLARITY trials, have shown that VIZZ can noticeably improve near sight with a well-tolerated safety profile.
Use one drop in each eye once per day, preferably at the same time. If your doctor instructs a second drop, wait at least two minutes between applications. Remove contact lenses before use, and wait around ten minutes before putting them back in. When taking more than one type of eye medication, allow a minimum of five minutes between each. Be careful not to let the tip of the vial touch your eye or fingers. Each vial is designed for single use and should be discarded after opening.
Active ingredient: Aceclidine hydrochloride 1.44%. Other ingredients include polysorbate 80, mannitol, hypromellose, edetate disodium dihydrate, and purified water. Small amounts of hydrochloric acid or sodium hydroxide may be present to balance pH. Each unit-dose vial is sterile and preservative-free for safety and convenience.
When using VIZZ with other eye drops, space each application at least five minutes apart. Contact lens users should remove lenses before applying the drops and wait ten minutes before reinserting them. Always inform your healthcare professional of any medications, eye treatments, or health conditions to avoid potential interactions.
Some people may experience short-term changes in vision such as blurriness or dimness after use, so avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision is clear again. In rare cases, individuals with certain eye conditions may face an increased risk of retinal detachment. If you notice sudden flashes of light, new floaters, or a shadow across your vision, seek urgent medical help. Anyone with a history of eye inflammation (such as iritis or uveitis) or allergies to the listed ingredients should speak with a doctor before starting treatment. Each vial is intended for one-time use only and should be discarded after opening.
Side effects are typically mild and temporary but can include slight eye irritation (around 20% of patients), brief dimming of vision (about 16%), headache (about 13%), and mild eye redness or pressure (around 7–8%). If discomfort continues or worsens, contact your healthcare provider for guidance.
